A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for a domestic abuse prevention
program for veterans and their families.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DOMESTIC ABUSE PREVENTION GRANTS.

new text begin $398,000 in fiscal year 2020 and $398,000 in fiscal year 2021 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to a domestic abuse prevention
program that provides interdisciplinary, trauma-informed treatment and evidence-informed
intervention for veterans and current or former service members and their whole families
affected by domestic violence. The grantee must offer a combination of services for
perpetrators of domestic violence and their families, including individual and group therapy,
evaluation and research of programming, and short- and long-term case management services
to ensure stabilization and increase in their overall mental health functioning and well-being.
