1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commending Steve Lyons for his many years of dedicated service to the
1.3teaching profession.
1.4WHEREAS, a member of the teaching profession must be a caring and committed person
1.5who believes in the ability of all students to learn; and
1.6WHEREAS, Steve Lyons has been an outstanding music educator for 33 years; and
1.7WHEREAS, Steve Lyons has been the award-winning Champlin Park High School Band
1.8Director for 26 years, since Champlin Park opened its doors in 1992; and
1.9WHEREAS, Steve Lyons has been the band director of the St. Louis Park Community Band
1.10for 5 1/2 years, which has seen major growth with many of his former students returning to play
1.11under his direction; and
1.12WHEREAS, Steve Lyons is the strongest advocate for music education in the
1.13Anoka-Hennepin school district; and
1.14WHEREAS, Steve Lyons works tirelessly to promote the value of music in the lives of
1.15thousands of students and adults; and
1.16WHEREAS, Steve Lyons is also the husband to Tami, father of two children, and grandfather
1.17of triplets; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19commends Steve Lyons for his many years of dedication and commitment.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Steve Lyons.
