1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Stillwater Area High School girls' gymnastics team on winning the 1.32018 State High School Class 2A girls' gymnastics championship. 1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of 1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and 1.6WHEREAS, the Stillwater gymnastics team participated in the 2018 State High School Class 1.72A girls' gymnastics tournament on February 23, 2018, at Maturi Pavilion; and 1.8WHEREAS, Stillwater, after finishing in fifth place last year, captured the school's first state 1.9title by scoring a season- and school-record best of 150.250, which was .535 points ahead of 1.10defending champion Lakeville North, and did so by hitting every routine without a major error; 1.11and 1.12WHEREAS, the Stillwater gymnastics team ended their season with a 9-0 dual meet record, 1.13taking first place at the St. Cloud Tech, Gustavus, and Park invitationals, and third place at the 1.14Lakeville North invitational; and 1.15WHEREAS, the gymnastics team will be honored at the city's Parade of Champions on April 1.1614, 2018; and 1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that 1.18congratulations are extended to the members of the Stillwater Area High School girls' gymnastics 1.19team for their sportsmanship and skill and winning the school's first girls' gymnastics title. 1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to coaches Dusty Dennis 1.23and Joan Ledson and the principal of Stillwater Area High School.
