1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Delano High School boys' basketball team on winning the 2018
1.3State High School Class 3A boys' basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools help teach the principles of sportsmanship
1.5and fair play and thereby contribute to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Delano basketball team participated in the 2018 State High School Class
1.73A boys' basketball tournament finals on March 24, 2018, at Target Center; and
1.8WHEREAS, Delano, led by Keegan O'Neill's 30-point, 12-rebound game, erased a 13-point
1.9halftime deficit after switching to a 1-3-1 zone that flustered the Colombia Heights Hylanders and
1.10helped Delano defeat the Hylanders 65 to 61 in the finals to win the school's first state championship;
1.11and
1.12WHEREAS, the unseeded Tigers finished the regular season with an average 21-11 record,
1.13but had the skill and tenacity to knock off the Nos. 2, 3, and 4 seeds to win the title; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15congratulations are extended to the members of the Delano High School boys' basketball team for
1.16their sportsmanship and skill.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Coach Techam and
1.20the principal of Delano High School.
