1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Lyle-Pacelli High School girls basketball team on winning
1.3the 2018 State High School Class A girls basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the top-seeded Lyle-Pacelli basketball team was one of eight teams that
1.7participated in the 2018 State High School Class A girls basketball tournament on March 15-17,
1.82018; and
1.9WHEREAS, after beating Heritage Christian Academy 59-43 in the quarterfinals and
1.10Minneota 53-41 in the semifinals, they defeated the Sleepy Eye Indians 57-33 in the final game of
1.11the tournament to win their first state championship; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Athletics finished the regular season with an outstanding 32-1 record; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14congratulations are extended to the members of the Lyle-Pacelli High School girls basketball team
1.15for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.19Lyle-Pacelli High School.
