1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Orono High School boys hockey team on winning the 1.32018 State High School Class 1A boys hockey championship. 1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of 1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and 1.6WHEREAS, the Orono hockey team participated in the 2018 State High School Class 1A 1.7boys hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, on March 7-10, 2018; 1.8and 1.9WHEREAS, after beating Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 6-1 in the quarterfinals and Mahtomedi 1.105-4 in overtime in the semifinals, they defeated Alexandria Cardinals 2-1 in the final game of the 1.11tournament to win the state championship for the first time; and 1.12WHEREAS, the Spartans finished the season with an outstanding 23-7-1 record; and 1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that 1.14congratulations are extended to the members of the Orono High School boys hockey team for their 1.15sportsmanship and skill. 1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an 1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the 1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Orono 1.19High School.
