1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Adam Thompson of Park Rapids, Minnesota, for receiving
1.3the Eagle Award.
1.4WHEREAS, the Eagle Award is the highest award given by the Boy Scouts of America;
1.5and
1.6WHEREAS, attaining the rank of Eagle in the Boy Scouts is an important achievement that
1.7is worthy of recognition; and
1.8WHEREAS, Adam is a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 58 and has displayed the
1.9attributes of a responsible and serving member by earning over 50 merit badges and serving in a
1.10variety of leadership positions: senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader,
1.11scribe, quartermaster, librarian, chaplain aide, and grub master; and
1.12WHEREAS, Adam has demonstrated mastery of all scouting skills and completed a
1.13community service project called Stuff-A-Truck, which was a three-day food drive that collected
1.14food, household goods, and money for the Hubbard County Food Shelf and garnered 1,455 pounds
1.15of food and $3,152; and
1.16WHEREAS, Adam is a senior at Nevis High School and will attend and play baseball at
1.17Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota, in fall 2018; and
1.18WHEREAS, an Eagle Court of Honor will be held in late spring 2018; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20congratulates Adam Thompson of Park Rapids, Minnesota, for receiving the Eagle Award.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.22copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
1.23Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Adam Thompson.
