1.1A Senate resolution
1.2declaring September 3, 2018, to be Picture Grace Day in the State of Minnesota.
1.3WHEREAS, the photograph "Grace" is Minnesota's state photograph since March 22, 2002; and
1.4WHEREAS, this photograph is known worldwide and represents some of the best talent from
1.5Minnesota; and
1.6WHEREAS, the photograph was taken by Minnesota photographer Eric Enstrom in Bovey, Minnesota;
1.7the man depicted in his photograph is Charles Wilden of Grand Rapids, who made a living in the early 1900s
1.8selling shoe scrapers house to house in towns where muddy streets were prevalent; and
1.9WHEREAS, the photograph was taken in 1918, making 2018 the 100th anniversary of this well-known
1.10image; and
1.11NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that Labor Day,
1.12September 3, 2018, be declared Picture Grace Day in the State of Minnesota.
1.13BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an enrolled
1.14copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the Senate
1.15Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Eric Enstrom.
