1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the East Ridge High School ERRORS on winning the Minnesota
1.3State Robotics Championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports and academics in our high schools are helpful in teaching
1.5the principles of sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the FIRST program, which stands for Inspiration and Recognition of Science
1.7and Technology, seeks to develop and advance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
1.8(STEM) education; and
1.9WHEREAS, the East Ridge High School First Robotics Team 3130, nicknamed the East
1.10Ridge Robotic Ominous Raptors (ERRORS), used great skill and ingenuity in creating a robot
1.11named Fierrbox that helped them win the Northern Lights Regional Championship as part of an
1.12alliance with Team 2509 from Hutchinson and Team 6613 from Hurley, Wisconsin; and
1.13WHEREAS, the ERRORS then went on to compete in the Minnesota State Robotics
1.14Championship on May 20, 2017, at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis; and
1.15WHEREAS, after playing in seven qualification matches during the morning and afternoon,
1.16the ERRORS won the final match 441-293 to share the state championship with the Duluth East
1.17Daredevils and Team FRED from Warroad, an outstanding accomplishment deserving of special
1.18legislative recognition; and
1.19WHEREAS, the team also qualified for the third straight year for the Robotics Competition
1.20World Championships in St. Louis in late April; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22congratulates the members of the East Ridge High School ERRORS on winning the Minnesota
1.23State Robotics Championship.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.25enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.26Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the East Ridge High
1.27School ERRORS.
