1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the 125th anniversary of Saron Lutheran Church.
1.3WHEREAS, those places of worship that have withstood the test of time enrich our state
1.4spiritually and are deserving of special legislative recognition; and
1.5WHEREAS, Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake has a rich and vibrant history of encouraging
1.6faith in the Big Lake community; and
1.7WHEREAS, the congregation was founded January 25, 1892, by Swedish immigrants who
1.8had settled near Big Lake; and
1.9WHEREAS, Saron Lutheran Church has reached its 125th year of serving the community
1.10and encouraging discipleship within the congregation; and
1.11WHEREAS, this awe-inspiring milestone has been recognized by numerous celebrations,
1.12the first of which was held in January and featured rides in horse-drawn wagons, snow sculpting,
1.13community campfires, and a special meatball dinner honoring the heritage and history of Saron;
1.14and
1.15WHEREAS, celebrations have continued through September, allowing for cherished memories
1.16of the church to be shared along with church services and a congregation photo of all 450 members
1.17of the church; and
1.18NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.19congratulates Saron Lutheran Church on its 125th anniversary and extends best wishes to the entire
1.20congregation.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.22enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.23Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Saron Lutheran Church
1.24and its members.
