1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Goodhue High School girls basketball team on winning
1.3the 2016 State High School Class A girls basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Goodhue basketball team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.72016 State High School Class A girls basketball tournament on March 17-19, 2016; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Sacred Heart 77-46 in the quarterfinals and
1.9Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 74-35 in the semifinals, they defeated the Maranatha Christian
1.10Academy Mustangs 89-64 in the final game of the tournament at Williams Arena to win the
1.11state championship; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Wildcats finished the season with an outstanding 30-4 record; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.14that congratulations are extended to the members of the Goodhue High School girls basketball
1.15team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.17an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.18the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal
1.19of Goodhue High School.
