1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the Coon Rapids Lions Club on their 60th anniversary.
1.3WHEREAS, the Coon Rapids Lions Club charter was accepted by Lions Clubs
1.4International on February 4, 1954; the Coon Rapids Lions Club charter night was held on March
1.55, 1954; and the club is celebrating its 60th anniversary on May 3, 2014; and
1.6WHEREAS, Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service organization, with
1.7nearly 1.4 million members in over 45,000 clubs in over 200 countries, and nearly 500 men and
1.8women have served in the Coon Rapids Lions Club since its inception; and
1.9WHEREAS, the Coon Rapids Lions Club is a standard-bearer for Lions District 5M7 with
1.10many acknowledgements given by the district to the club for its service to the community and the
1.11district; two Coon Rapids Lions members have been District Governor in 5M7, and numerous
1.12members have served on the District cabinet; and
1.13WHEREAS, the Coon Rapids Lions Club is a vital part of the community providing
1.14volunteers, leadership, and monetary support to the citizens of Coon Rapids, and during the past
1.1560 years, the club has donated millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of hours to the
1.16benefit of the city and those who work and play in the community; and
1.17WHEREAS, the Coon Rapids Lions Club has supported numerous projects and causes
1.18over the course of its 60 years in existence that help to improve the lives of many of our fellow
1.19citizens who are in need of some assistance, and that have impacted the lives of almost every
1.20citizen in Minnesota; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22honors the Coon Rapids Lions Club on their 60th anniversary.
2.1BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
2.2an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that
2.3of the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Coon
2.4Rapids Lions Club.
