1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Abigail Furutani of Rochester for receiving the American
1.3Heritage Girls Stars and Stripes Award.
1.4WHEREAS, the American Heritage Girls is a national Christian organization for girls,
1.5whose mission is to "build women of integrity through service to God, family, community, and
1.6country" through skill development, outdoor programming, and service opportunities; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Stars and Stripes Award is the highest award given by the American
1.8Heritage Girls, and is modeled after and equivalent to the Eagle Award given by the Boy Scouts
1.9of America; and
1.10WHEREAS, Abigail Furutani of American Heritage Girls Troop 100 has become the
1.11192nd recipient of the Stars and Stripes Award in its history, the 16th in Minnesota; and
1.12WHEREAS, she has met all requirements of the Stars and Stripes Award, including a
1.13community service project, for which Abigail assembled and led a team of volunteers in creating
1.14a mural, photo collages, and other artwork for the nursery and classrooms at Trinity Presbyterian
1.15Church; and
1.16WHEREAS, a Court of Honor will be held in recognition of Abigail Furutani; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates Abigail Furutani of Rochester for receiving the Stars and Stripes Award.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.20copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
1.21Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Abigail Furutani.
