1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Hill-Murray High School girls hockey team on winning
1.3the 2014 State High School Class AA girls hockey championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools help teach the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Hill-Murray girls hockey team was one of eight teams that participated in
1.7the 2014 State High School Class AA girls hockey tournament on February 20-22, 2014; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Burnsville 4-1 in the quarterfinals and Eden Prairie 1-0 in
1.9the semifinals, they defeated top-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's 5-3 in the final game of the
1.10tournament at Xcel Energy Center to win the state championship; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Pioneers finished the season with an outstanding 26-3-1 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.13that congratulations are extended to the members of the Hill-Murray High School girls hockey
1.14team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.16an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.17the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.18Hill-Murray High School.
