1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing University of Minnesota Duluth students during National
1.3Student Employment Week.
1.4WHEREAS, students who work while pursuing college degrees develop skills and
1.5discipline that will assist them throughout their lives, and the University of Minnesota Duluth
1.6recognizes students who work while attending college; and
1.7WHEREAS, employers appreciate the flexibility and enthusiasm student employees
1.8provide; and
1.9WHEREAS, Student Employee of the Year is a contest held by the National Association of
1.10Student Employment Administrators (NASEA); and
1.11WHEREAS, the goal of NASEA, a nonprofit association involved with supporting and
1.12promoting student employment, is to promote student employment as an educational experience for
1.13students, as well as an alternative to financial aid and an aid for students to prepare for careers; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.15that it proclaims the week of April 14-18, 2014, as National Student Employment Week at the
1.16University of Minnesota Duluth; and
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that student
1.18employment is an educational component in the development of effective and productive citizens,
1.19and an economic factor in providing financial support for students in higher education.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.21an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.22the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the University
1.23of Minnesota Duluth.
