1.1A Senate Resolution
1.2relating to the designation of a sister city. 1.3WHEREAS, the Chinese Investment firm Heilongjiang Yurun Industrial Group, located in 1.4Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, is considering investing significant resources in a DNA laboratory in 1.5partnership with the University of Minnesota and Recombinetics, a U.S. research company; and 1.6WHEREAS, the investments and project may lead to significant new jobs in the state; and 1.7WHEREAS, members from the Heilongjiang Yurun Industrial Group met with state 1.8officials at the Capitol in Saint Paul to discuss the proposed project; and 1.9WHEREAS, the governor and state officials that met with the members from the 1.10Heilongjian Yurun Industrial Group believe it would be beneficial for Harbin, China, and St. Paul, 1.11Minnesota, to be sister cities; NOW, THEREFORE, 1.12BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that the state encourages the 1.13project with the Heilongjiang Yurun Industrial Group. 1.14BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in honor of the continued working relationship between 1.15the two cities, Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, is designated as a sister city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. |
