1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the life of Txoos Veej Hawj.
1.3WHEREAS, Txoos Veej Hawj was born on September 9, 1955, in Phuaj Khom, Luang
1.4Prabang Province in Laos; and
1.5WHEREAS, in 1969, Hawj finished his nursing training and began working with the Army
1.6Group 2 in Phab Kheb Xieng Khouang, Laos; and
1.7WHEREAS, from June 1973 to February 1975, Hawj worked as a medic in the Luang
1.8Prabang Province area in Laos; and
1.9WHEREAS, between 1976 and 1979, Hawj became a freedom fighter and lived in the jungles
1.10of Laos; and
1.11WHEREAS, in 1980, Hawj escaped Laos and arrived at the Vib Nais refugee camp in
1.12Thailand, where he worked and trained students in the field of medicine; and
1.13WHEREAS, on February 17, 1991, Hawj arrived in the United States and completed his
1.14study of massage therapy; and
1.15WHEREAS, on October 6, 2019, Hawj passed away in Eureka, California; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17honors the life of Txoos Veej Hawj, commends him on his service to his country, and extends
1.18deepest sympathies to his family and friends on his passing.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Txoos
1.22Veej Hawj.
