1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Grace Boyum of Rochester for receiving the American
1.3Heritage Girls Stars and Stripes Award.
1.4WHEREAS, the Stars and Stripes Award is the highest award given by the American
1.5Heritage Girls, a Christianity-based youth organization founded in 1995; and
1.6WHEREAS, Grace Boyum is a member of American Heritage Girls and the 170th recipient
1.7of the Stars and Stripes Award in its history; and
1.8WHEREAS, she has met all requirements of the Stars and Stripes Award, including
1.9earning a minimum of 16 badges, earning the Dolley Madison Level Award, writing a life
1.10ambition/spiritual walk essay, and demonstrating leadership potential; and
1.11WHEREAS, for her community service project, Grace led a team of youth and adult
1.12volunteers in cleaning, painting, and furnishing a study and tutoring room at Friendship Place,
1.13a nonprofit organization that provides summer and after-school programs for disadvantaged
1.14children; and
1.15WHEREAS, an Court of Honor will be held in recognition of Grace Boyum; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17congratulates Grace Boyum of Rochester, Minnesota, for receiving the Stars and Stripes Award.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare a
1.19copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the Chair of the
1.20Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Grace Boyum.
