1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing May 10, 2019, as Family Child Care Provider Appreciation Day and
1.3May as the month of the Family Child Care Provider.
1.4WHEREAS, Minnesota has the second highest rate of working mothers in the nation requiring quality
1.5child care that is both accessible and affordable; and
1.6WHEREAS, children need safe and loving environments to learn and grow while their parents work
1.7or attend school; and
1.8WHEREAS, approximately 7,775 licensed family child care providers open their hearts and homes
1.9to Minnesota's children each day, offering an environment that meets the social, emotional, and cultural
1.10needs of the children and families they serve; and
1.11WHEREAS, Minnesota's licensed family child care providers are dedicated professionals who operate
1.12small businesses that provide an invaluable service which is integral to the economic growth and prosperity
1.13of our state and communities; and
1.14WHEREAS, licensed family child care providers make many personal sacrifices to provide the
1.15absolute best care to Minnesota's children, offering an exceptional early education that prepares them for
1.16school and life; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that May 10,
1.182019, be recognized as Family Child Care Provider Appreciation Day, and the month of May be recognized
1.19as the Month of the Family Child Care Provider. We call on Minnesotans to honor family child care providers
1.20and thank them for the contributions they make to our children and the state.
