1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the University of Minnesota women's hockey team for an historic
1.3championship season.
1.4WHEREAS, on Sunday, March 24, 2013, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers
1.5defeated Boston University 6-3 at Ridder Arena to capture the 2013 NCAA women's hockey
1.6championship for a second consecutive season; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Gophers earned a grueling triple overtime win against North Dakota in
1.8the quarterfinals and defeated Boston College in another overtime contest in the semifinals on
1.9their way to the fourth championship season in team history; and
1.10WHEREAS, the win in the finals capped a perfect 41-0 season and marked their 49th
1.11victory in a row; and
1.12WHEREAS, the Gophers are the first NCAA hockey team in 43 years to conclude a season
1.13undefeated and the first in the 13-year history of NCAA women's hockey; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota
1.15that it congratulates the University of Minnesota women's hockey team upon winning the 2013
1.16NCAA women's hockey championship and recognizes the team's historic achievement in the
1.172012-13 season
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.19enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.20Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the University of
1.21Minnesota Golden Gophers.
