1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Excelsior Mayor Mark Gaylord for his years of service to the
1.3community.
1.4WHEREAS, those who selflessly give of their time and energy to benefit and better their
1.5community as public servants holding elected office are deserving of special legislative recognition;
1.6and
1.7WHEREAS, Mark Gaylord has been a leader in Excelsior, Minnesota, for almost a decade;
1.8and
1.9WHEREAS, Mark served the community in a variety of capacities, including on the planning
1.10commission and as the Mayor; and
1.11WHEREAS, under his leadership, the City of Excelsior took an important step in reducing
1.12serious alcohol-related incidents in the community by using data from the Place of Last Drink
1.13Program to identify problems in the community and adopted a policy intended to hold liquor
1.14license-holding establishments more accountable; and
1.15WHEREAS, Mark helped complete a user-friendly comprehensive plan; and
1.16WHEREAS, he steered a committee to complete the East Side Small Area Plan, which will
1.17help guide anticipated development in Excelsior; and
1.18WHEREAS, he was instrumental in revising the Single-Scale Standards to help improve the
1.19character of Excelsior; and
1.20WHEREAS, community members have benefited from Mark's hard work and care for the
1.21community throughout his years of service; and
1.22NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.23thanks Excelsior Mayor Mark Gaylord for his commitment to and stewardship of the City of
1.24Excelsior.
1.25BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.26enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.27Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Mark Gaylord.
