1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Cadet 1st Lieutenant Parker Rosedahl on receiving the Mitchell
1.3Award.
1.4WHEREAS, the Mitchell Award, named after General Billy Mitchell, is the first major
1.5milestone in the Civil Air Patrol's Cadet Program and is achieved after passing a comprehensive
1.6test over the first eight achievements of the Cadet Program; and
1.7WHEREAS, during the process, the cadets are put into positions that are designed to
1.8challenge them physically, mentally, and morally, and are taught to follow, lead others, and
1.9eventually administer an operational squadron; and
1.10WHEREAS, Parker Rosedahl, who is a high school sophomore and will be joining the
1.11Post-Secondary Education Options program next year, has been a cadet since November 2008,
1.12and received his Mitchell Award in January 2012; and
1.13WHEREAS, upon receiving the Mitchell Award, Parker is authorized to wear the grade of
1.14Lieutenant, and he recently assumed the duties of Cadet Commander; and
1.15WHEREAS, the Amelia Earhart Award is the second major milestone in the Cadet
1.16Program, which is achieved after passing a comprehensive test over the first 12 achievements of
1.17the Cadet Program, and the cadet is authorized to wear the grade of Captain; and
1.18WHEREAS, the ultimate goal for cadets is to achieve the Carl Spaatz Award, which is
1.19achieved after passing a comprehensive test over all 19 achievements of the Cadet Program, and
1.20be authorized to wear the grade of Colonel; and
1.21NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.22congratulates Cadet 1st Lieutenant Parker Rosedahl on receiving the Mitchell Award, and wishes
1.23him well in his future endeavors.
1.24BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.25an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that
1.26of the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Cadet 1st
1.27Lieutenant Parker Rosedahl.
