1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the Fergus Falls High School Marching Band for performing at the 2013
1.3Inaugural Parade.
1.4WHEREAS, the Inaugural Parade is a time-honored American tradition, celebrating the
1.5swearing in of the nation's President; and
1.6WHEREAS, performing at an Inaugural Parade is a tremendous honor for a high school
1.7marching band; and
1.8WHEREAS, the Fergus Falls High School Marching Band followed in the footsteps of
1.9their predecessors from 2009, who also performed at the Inaugural Parade, and represented the
1.10state of Minnesota and the city of Fergus Falls by performing in front of President Obama and the
1.11First Family in the Inaugural Parade on Monday, January 21, 2013, in Washington, D.C.; and
1.12WHEREAS, propelled by its unique style of marching, playing, and singing, the Fergus
1.13Falls High School Marching Band performed the version of "Yankee Doodle Dandy" that the
1.142009 group had performed; and
1.15NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.16it congratulates the Fergus Falls High School Marching Band on performing at the Inaugural
1.17Parade, and extends best wishes to the entire band for the future.
1.18BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.19an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.20the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Band Director
1.21Scott Kummrow.
