BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; WASTEWATER POND OPTIMIZATION.

new text begin $750,000 in fiscal year 2022 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, in partnership with the Minnesota Rural Water
Association and the University of Minnesota's technical assistance program, to implement
a program to optimize existing local mechanical and pond wastewater treatment systems
to increase nutrient removal and improve efficiency without requiring costly upgrades.
