A bill for an act
 relating to environment; requiring money from certain environmental settlements
to be appropriated by law; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 116.03, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 116.03, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Clean Air Act settlement money. new text end

new text begin "Clean Air Act settlement money" means
money received by the state as a result of litigation or settlements of alleged violations of
the federal Clean Air Act, United States Code, title 42, section 7401, et seq., or rules adopted
thereunder, by an automobile manufacturer. Clean Air Act settlement money may not be
spent until it is specifically appropriated by law.
