  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; state vehicles; 
  1.3             regulating the leasing or other acquisition of motor 
  1.4             vehicles for the use of state officials and employees; 
  1.5             amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.54, by 
  1.6             adding a subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 16B.54, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 9.  [LIMIT ON LEASING.] Neither the commissioner nor 
  1.11  any other agency head or constitutional officer may lease or 
  1.12  otherwise acquire a motor vehicle for the exclusive use of any 
  1.13  state official or employee, except for the governor.  The annual 
  1.14  salary of an official or employee for whom a motor vehicle is 
  1.15  provided in violation of this subdivision is reduced by an 
  1.16  amount equal to the annual cost of the vehicle.  This reduction 
  1.17  is in effect during the period in which the vehicle is provided.
