A bill for an act
relating to local government; authorizing statutory and home rule charter cities
to set candidate filing fees by ordinance; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014,
section 205.13, subdivision 3.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 205.13, subdivision 3, is amended to read:


Subd. 3.

Filing fees.

for filing an application or affidavit of candidacy for city office

provided in this section
new text end , the filing fee for a municipal office is as follows:

different amount not to exceed the following:

new text begin (3) in fourth class cities, $15.

new text begin (c) A home rule charter city that sets filing fees by authority provided in city charter
is not subject to the fee limits in this section.
