A bill for an act
relating to public safety; requiring same day licenses and identification cards;
appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 171.02, by
adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 171.02, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin An applicant who submits a properly completed application
for a driver's license, instruction permit, or identification card must be provided with the
license or card at the time of the application. The license or card must be processed and
made at the site of the application. The applicant must not be required to go to another
location to receive the license or card. The applicant must not be provided with a temporary
license or card.

made on or after that date.
