A bill for an act
relating to public safety; clarifying that there is no duty to retreat before making
a threat to use force in self-defense in certain circumstances; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2024, section 609.06, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.06, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

person authorized to use force in compliance with subdivision 1, clause (3), is not required
to retreat, even if there is an opportunity to do so, before making a reasonable threat to use
force.
