  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; extending the time period 
  1.3             during which type III vehicles may be used to 
  1.4             transport school children; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.5             2002, section 169.454, subdivision 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.454, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [AGE OF VEHICLE.] Vehicles ten 12 years or older 
  1.10  must not be used as type III vehicles to transport school 
  1.11  children, except those vehicles that are manufactured to meet 
  1.12  the structural requirements of federal motor vehicle safety 
  1.13  standard 222, Code of Federal Regulations, title 49, part 571. 
  1.14     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.15  following final enactment.
