relating to education finance; appropriating money for financial literacy instruction
grants.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin The sum indicated in this section is
appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for the fiscal year
designated.

new text begin Financial literacy instruction grants. new text end

new text begin (a) For grants to teachers to integrate
financial literacy instruction into the core curriculum:

new text begin (b) A grant applicant must be a licensed teacher employed by a school district or charter
school. Applicants must apply in the form and manner determined by the commissioner.

new text begin (c) A grant recipient must use the grant award to integrate financial literacy concepts
and instruction into the classroom core curriculum, including purchasing or developing
financial literacy curriculum; providing instructional materials, supplies, or equipment; or
participating in professional development related to teaching financial literacy.
