A joint resolution
honoring the community volunteers of Marty, Minnesota, for their dedicated volunteer
work in the wake of the Blackhawk helicopter crash in central Minnesota

WHEREAS, those who give selflessly of their time, especially during moments of crisis and
disaster, perform an essential service to their communities deserving of special legislative recognition;

WHEREAS, on December 5, 2019, a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter crashed near
Marty, necessitating the immediate service of community volunteers and the presence of the Red
Cross; and

WHEREAS, Alan Haus and Dina Colville of Marty, Minnesota, were among the first at the
scene of the accident, leading volunteer efforts in the wake of the devastating loss of lives sustained
in the accident and working tirelessly with the Red Cross and the many incredible volunteers from
the city of Marty every day until military personnel and law enforcement officers closed the scene;

WHEREAS, for five days straight, Alan and Dina, along with numerous other volunteers,
provided necessities to first responders, military personnel, and members of the community including
providing meals, hot beverages, hand and foot warmers, and emotional support through signs and
letters. The landowners of the site, the Krippner family, including Larry and Helen Kripner, Kevin
and Amanda Kripner, Kurt and Shelly Kripner, and Kristy and Eric Kalkbrenner are also commended
for erecting a flag and memorial to honor the fallen National Guard members; NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives and the Senate of the State of Minnesota
in joint convention that they recognize the community volunteers of Marty for their dedicated
support, thoughtful care, and committed service to the Red Cross volunteers, members of the
military, first responders, and the community of Marty; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the joint convention is directed to prepare
an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by his signature and that of the President of
the joint convention, and that it be presented to the community volunteers of Marty.
