A bill for an act
relating to unemployment insurance; modifying the effect of other earnings on
unemployment benefits during COVID-19 pandemic.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EFFECT OF EARNINGS FROM OTHER EMPLOYMENT DURING
COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 268.085, subdivisions 2, clause (6); and
5, paragraphs (a) and (b), an applicant for an unemployment insurance benefit account
established between March 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020, that is ineligible for
unemployment benefits with respect to a benefit week due to the limitations on earnings
from other employment, shall receive unemployment benefits for that week in an amount
such that the unemployment benefit that would otherwise be allowed but for the other
earnings on other employment when combined with the earnings from other employment
does not exceed the maximum weekly benefit amount allowed by law.
