A bill for an act
relating to veterans affairs; appropriating money for upgrades and enhancements
to the Preston, Bemidji, and Montevideo state veterans homes building projects;
requiring a report.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATIONS; STATE VETERANS HOMES BUILDING
PROJECTS.

new text begin (a) $6,928,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of administration to fund the design, construction, and equipping of site and
building improvements at the Preston state veterans home building project that were not
funded through the initial appropriation. This appropriation may also be utilized for furniture,
fixtures, and equipment at the Preston state veterans home.

new text begin (b) $4,354,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of administration to fund the design, construction, and equipping of site and
building improvements at the Bemidji state veterans home building project that were not
funded through the initial appropriation. This appropriation may also be utilized for furniture,
fixtures, and equipment at the Bemidji state veterans home.

new text begin (c) $5,272,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of administration to fund the design, construction, and equipping of site and
building improvements at the Montevideo state veterans home building project that were
not funded through the initial appropriation. This appropriation may also be utilized for
furniture, fixtures, and equipment at the Montevideo state veterans home.

new text begin (d) By February 15, 2023, the commissioner of administration must report to the
legislative committees with jurisdiction over veterans affairs on the use of the money
appropriated under this section, including information on the status of the projects funded
under this section at the Bemidji, Montevideo, and Preston state veterans homes building
projects. By February 15, 2024, the commissioner of administration must submit a final
report to the legislative committees with jurisdiction over veterans affairs on how the total
appropriations were spent.
