A bill for an act
 relating to education; providing for including suicide prevention information on
student identification cards; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapters 121A; 135A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [121A.35] SUICIDE PREVENTION INFORMATION; IDENTIFICATION
CARDS.

new text begin A school district or charter school that issues an identification card to students in grades
6 through 12 must provide contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
(988), the Crisis Text line, and the county Mobile Crisis Services. The contact information
must also be included in the school's student handbook and the student planner if a student
planner is custom printed by the school for distribution to students in grades 6 through 12.

new text begin The Board of Trustees of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities shall, and the
University of Minnesota is requested to, provide contact information for the National Suicide
Prevention Lifeline (988), the Crisis Text line, and the county Mobile Crisis Services on

student handbook.
