A bill for an act
relating to elections; requiring election precincts to be established at certain public
college and university campuses; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section
204B.16, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 204B.16, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Polling places; public colleges and universities. new text end

new text begin (a) If a campus is located
within the boundaries of a municipality, the governing body of the municipality must
establish a precinct for the campus and designate a polling place in that precinct. If a campus
is located in more than one municipality, each municipality must designate a separate
precinct on the campus. Each polling place located on a campus must have ballots for every
precinct located on the campus and for each adjacent precinct to the campus.

new text begin (b) For purposes of this subdivision, "campus" means a public college or university
campus that is operated by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities or the University
of Minnesota with a total enrollment of 5,000 or more students and with on-campus student
housing.
