A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money to the Department of Health for upgrades
to the Public Health Lab that will facilitate remedial investigations and response
actions to address discharges of perfluorochemicals by 3M Company.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PUBLIC HEALTH LAB EQUIPMENT UPGRADES; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $660,000 in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of health to purchase and install equipment for the agency's Public Health Lab that can be
used to facilitate remedial investigations and response actions to address discharges of
perfluorochemicals by 3M Company and to protect public health and welfare and the
environment. The Pollution Control Agency shall reimburse the general fund for this
appropriation with proceeds from the 2007 Settlement Agreement and Consent Order entered
by and between the MPCA and 3M on May 22, 2007. This is a onetime appropriation and
is available until expended.
