A bill for an act
relating to veterans' health care; requiring providers to accept veterans in order to
participate in certain programs; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes,
chapter 197.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [197.997] PARTICIPATION UNDER OTHER STATE HEALTH CARE
PROGRAMS.

new text begin A health care provider, as defined in section 62J.03, subdivision 8, must participate as
a provider under any health care coverage program offered to veterans by the Department
of Veteran Affairs as a condition of participating:

new text begin (1) as a provider in health insurance plans or programs;
new text end

new text begin (2) as a contractor for state employees established under section 43A.18;
new text end

new text begin (3) in the public employees insurance program under section 43A.316; or
new text end

new text begin (4) in a health insurance plan offered to employees of a statutory or home rule charter
city, a county, or a school district.
