A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; classifying data on individuals who are minors;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 13.7931, by adding a subdivision;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 84.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 13.7931, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

that are collected, created, received, maintained, or disseminated by the Department of
Natural Resources are classified under section 84.0873.

Sec. 2.

new text begin [84.0873] DATA ON INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE MINORS.

new text begin When the Department of Natural Resources collects, creates, receives, maintains, or
disseminates data on individuals who the department knows or has reason to know are
minors, the data are considered private data on individuals, as defined in section 13.02,
subdivision 12, except for data classified as public data according to section 13.43. Access
to such data is subject to Minnesota Rules, part 1205.0500.
