A bill for an act
 relating to local government; modifying counties competitive bidding; amending
Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 471.345, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 471.345, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:


Subd. 20.

Solicitations to small business enterprises or veteran-owned small
businesses.

A contract, as defined in subdivision 2, estimated not to exceed $250,000 may
be made pursuant to the provisions of subdivision 4 provided that a business that is directly
solicited is: (1) certified as a small business enterprise by a county designated small business
certification program; or (2) certified by the commissioner of administration as a small
business that is majority-owned and operated by a veteran or a service-disabled veteran.
This subdivision applies only to county boards.
