A bill for an act
relating to economic development; appropriating money for mixed-use, multifamily
housing.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text beginAPPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $25,000,000 in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of housing finance for a grant to a developer for construction or financing of
an approximately 138 unit mixed-use, multifamily development at 900 Cedar Avenue South,
Minneapolis. The developer must provide matching funds under this paragraph. The
development must include retail space and both affordable and market rate rental properties.
This is a onetime appropriation and is available until expended.

new text begin (b) $300,000 in fiscal year 2019 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of employment and economic development for the job creation fund under Minnesota
Statutes, section 116J.8748. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the commissioner
shall certify the developer of a mixed-use, multifamily residential project located at 900
Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis as eligible to receive the job creation award under this
paragraph.
