A bill for an act
relating to public safety; classifying background check data on individuals
as private; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 13.87, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 13.87, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Bureau of Criminal Apprehension
background check data on individuals are classified as private under section 13.02,
subdivision 12. The bureau may release this data to a requester of the data upon a written
consent form executed by the individual subject of the data or a statute specifically
provides a different classification.
