A bill for an act
 relating to education finance; authorizing funding to continue the scholars of
distinction program; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; SCHOLARS OF DISTINCTION PROGRAM.

new text begin $300,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2007 from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for continuation of the scholars of distinction program. For
purposes of determining the Department of Education's biennial budget request for fiscal
years 2008 and 2009, the governor must specifically include or exclude the scholars of
distinction program from the Department of Education's agency budget request.
