  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to child care licensing; allowing churches or 
  1.3             religious organizations to operate child care programs 
  1.4             under the rules governing family day care or group 
  1.5             family day care; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.6             section 245A.14, subdivision 4. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 245A.14, 
  1.9   subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4.  [SPECIAL FAMILY DAY CARE HOMES.] Nonresidential 
  1.11  child care programs serving 14 or fewer children that are 
  1.12  conducted at a location other than the license holder's own 
  1.13  residence shall be licensed under this section and the rules 
  1.14  governing family day care or group family day care if:  
  1.15     (a) the license holder is the primary provider of care and 
  1.16  the nonresidential child care program is conducted in a dwelling 
  1.17  that is located on a residential lot; or 
  1.18     (b) the license holder is an employer who may or may not be 
  1.19  the primary provider of care, and the purpose for the child care 
  1.20  program is to provide child care services to children of the 
  1.21  license holder's employees; or 
  1.22     (c) the license holder is a church or religious 
  1.23  organization.
