  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; appropriating money for 
  1.3             forest resources council activities and the forest 
  1.4             inventory assessment. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [FOREST RESOURCES COUNCIL.] 
  1.7      $250,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the 
  1.8   general fund to the commissioner of natural resources for the 
  1.9   forest resources council to implement an effectiveness 
  1.10  monitoring program for the voluntary timber harvesting 
  1.11  guidelines, to provide additional support for the landscape 
  1.12  program, and to increase the research activities of the council. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [FOREST INVENTORY ASSESSMENT APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.14     Subdivision 1.  [DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.] $360,000 
  1.15  is appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the general fund to the 
  1.16  commissioner of natural resources to accelerate the completion 
  1.17  of the forest inventory assessment and to increase the number of 
  1.18  sampling plots in the inventory. 
  1.19     Subd. 2.  [UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA.] $140,000 is 
  1.20  appropriated in fiscal year 2001 from the general fund to the 
  1.21  commissioner of natural resources for a grant to the University 
  1.22  of Minnesota college of natural resources to accelerate the 
  1.23  analysis of the department of natural resources forest inventory 
  1.24  assessment.
