research.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $20,000,000 in fiscal year 2023 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of
Regents of the University of Minnesota to award competitive grants to conduct research
into the prevention, treatment, causes, and cures of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
This is a onetime appropriation. Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.28,
unencumbered balances under this section do not cancel until July 1, 2026.
