  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; creating a coordinated 
  1.3             facilities plan; authorizing a grant to independent 
  1.4             school district No. 2135, Maple River; appropriating 
  1.5             money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [COORDINATED FACILITIES PLAN; MAPLE RIVER.] 
  1.8      $200,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 1999 from the 
  1.9   general fund to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.10  learning for a grant to independent school district No. 2135, 
  1.11  Maple River.  The grant shall be used to examine and coordinate 
  1.12  the district's building needs.  The district must evaluate how 
  1.13  the current use of its facilities is affecting its educational 
  1.14  services and examine cost efficiencies that may result from a 
  1.15  coordinated facilities plan.  The grant may be used for 
  1.16  operating purposes, transportation purposes, or facilities 
  1.17  purposes that lead to greater program efficiencies. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1998.
