  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; imposing restriction 
  1.3             on placement of safety inspection stickers or decals 
  1.4             on windshields; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, 
  1.5             section 169.71, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 169.71, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [SAFETY INSPECTION STICKER; PLACEMENT 
  1.10  RESTRICTION.] Neither the commissioner nor the commissioner of 
  1.11  public safety may require that a sticker, decal, or other 
  1.12  certification of safety inspection required under federal or 
  1.13  state law be placed on the lower left-hand corner of the 
  1.14  windshield, or on any other location on the windshield where the 
  1.15  placement of stickers and decals is prohibited by federal law or 
  1.16  regulation.
