A bill for an act
relating to education finance; authorizing a discretionary levy for school districts;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 126C.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin In any year that the general education formula allowance under section 126C.10,
subdivision 2, has not been increased, a school board, after a hearing called for that
purpose, may adopt a resolution prior to August 1 authorizing a discretionary levy in an
amount not to exceed $200 times the district's pupil units for that year. The amount of
the levy authority adopted by the board must be spread against the net tax capacity of
the school district.
