A bill for an act
relating to liquor; authorizing the issuance of malt liquor and wine licenses to
certain retailers currently licensed to sell 3.2 beer.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin EXISTING 3.2 PERCENT MALT LIQUOR LICENSES.

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, by the effective date of this section, the
governing body of a city or county shall issue to a sporting venue owner that is currently
licensed under Minnesota Statutes, section 340A.403, subdivision 1, for the on-sale of 3.2
percent malt liquor, a license for the on-sale of malt liquor and a license for the on-sale of
wine.

new text begin (b) All other provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 340A, not inconsistent with this
section, apply to the issuance of a license under this section.

new text begin (c) For purposes of this section, a "sporting venue owner" means a person that owns and
operates a public or private arena, stadium, ballpark, grandstand, or other indoor or outdoor
venue that hosts athletic or sporting events.
